Built to Last
A well-constructed trail improves safety, protects ecosystems, and demonstrates that climbers are committed stewards of public land. With help from volunteers, grant support, and donor funding, ECCC is creating sustainable infrastructure that keeps our crags open—and enjoyable—for years to come.
Many climbing areas in Eagle County developed without formal trails or belay platforms, leading to erosion, braided paths, and habitat damage. These issues not only harm the environment—they threaten long-term access.

ECCC addresses this by leading sustainable trail and belay area projects in partnership with the BLM, Forest Service, Vail Valley Mountain Trails Alliance (VVMT), and guiding services. We build and maintain durable approach trails, reinforce eroding slopes, construct stable belay platforms, and restore damaged terrain to protect both climbers and the land.

Our volunteers are the driving force behind this work. We provide the tools, guidance, and partnerships—volunteers bring the energy, time, and dedication that make it all possible.
