About the Event
Eagle County Climbing Coalition is hosting a free family climbing day. Do you have kids that like climbing at the gym and have always wanted to try climbing outdoors? Do your kids love climbing outdoors, but you lack the ropes needed? Are you just curious about the ins and outs of climbing outdoors with kids? Then come join us!! Bring a picnic and your family to spend the day top-roping with us at the Practice Slabs in Camp Hale.
ABOUT THE EVENT:
Where: The Camp Hale Practice Slabs are located off the main entrance to Camp Hale. Drive about .8 miles past Nova Guides (heading South) on 10th Mtn Memorial Highway and turn onto Camp Hale Spur 1B (Rd. 716.1b). Drive straight for about .5 mile crossing the little bridge near the abandoned military structure. Make a left-hand turn on Rd. 714.1 and park.
What: Because community outreach and development is one of E.C.C.C.s core missions we are excited to provide an opportunity for families to come together and spend the day learning about rock climbing. The Practice Slabs are a kid-friendly climbing area with grades mostly under 5.6. Additionally, there is a Forrest Service bathroom at the climbing area and a tipi fort building/play area which makes this the perfect spot.
When: The Family Climbing Day will be on Sunday, September 17th. The event starts at 10 a.m. and ends around 4 p.m.. There is no registration (though RSVPs are encouraged) and you are welcome to come and go as you please. Join us anytime during the event and stay as long as you want.
Thank you to Adventure Travel Guides (https://www.goatgi.com) for providing the ropes and equipment. Their partnership with E.C.C.C. is greatly appreciated.
Please, if possible, RSVP so we have an idea of how many people will be attending.
